Santa Clarita Valley Holiday Weekend
I wanted to take this time to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday weekend. I think it is also important to take time to consider the heroes/veterans of our armed services, the substantial sacrifices they have made, and the important roles that they have played and continue to serve with our country.
The holiday weekend also brings family and friends together, which has a tendency to create elevated emotions, increased alcohol consumption, and potential negative contacts with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. LASD and CHP generally have increased holiday patrols, DUI Enforcement Patrol, and additional staff on duty throughout the weekend. They will likely be more proactive in looking for potential problems, and will take prompt action to stem any situation which they believe will result in larger problems.
Because of increased enforcement efforts by local police agencies, and more scrutiny of conduct deemed inappropriate, this will likely result in many more arrests. With that in mind, it is a good idea to plan ahead, find a designated driver, and avoid confrontational situations. An example of potential issues this weekend will involve child visitation, drop offs and returns. Always have the well-being and best interests of your children throughout the weekend, understanding the potential for negative law enforcement attention and a difficult experience for your kids. Don’t let a moment of poor judgment result in a visit to the Santa Clarita Jail.
Be safe and have a happy holiday weekend!
