What's New at Santa Clarita Criminal Courthouse?

What's new at the Santa Clarita Courthouse this summer? As you will recall, the budget cuts in March impacted the Court Clerk's Office staffing when the LASC cut over 300 employees county-wide. This hard-working staff continues to generate an effective product because of the strong teamwork.
The Courtrooms remain the same. Division 1 continues to handle the in-custody arraignments felony early disposition, and felony arraignments. Divisions 2 and 3 divide the misdemeanor cases and preliminary hearings. All Divisions process traffic ticket arraignments, and Division 4 hears the traffic infraction trials.
The next wave of LASC cuts is threatening to remove 500+ employees countywide. This appears to also impact the Santa Clarita Courthouse. The Court Staff is a resiliant group, however, and should be able to overcome their day to day workload challenges.
